About
Literary Fare
Stories feed us.
They nourish our imaginations, spark conversation, and linger with us long after the final page is turned. At Literary Fare, we believe that food offers one of the richest paths into the heart of a story.
Meals in literature are never just background detail. A humble breakfast can reveal hardship. A lavish feast can signal power or excess. A shared cup of tea can deepen friendships or quietly move the plot forward. Food anchors stories in time and place, revealing the culture, history, and everyday rhythms of the world an author created.
Literary Fare was created to explore these delicious connections between food and fiction. Through culinary companions, essays, recipes, reader activities, and historical insights, the series invites readers to step deeper into the books they love.
Each Literary Fare volume approaches a classic story like a thoughtfully prepared meal—offering courses of insight and creativity along the way. You’ll find character explorations, historical foodways, imaginative pairings, recipes inspired by the text, and interactive extras designed for readers, book clubs, educators, and anyone who enjoys savoring a good story.
And sometimes the best way to understand a story…is to taste it.

About Literary Fare’s Creator
Cerella Sechrist is a fiction author and the creator of Literary Fare, a series that explores classic stories through food, history, and imagination.
Cerella has loved stories for as long as she can remember. Homeschooled alongside her younger brother and sister, she spent much of her childhood reading widely and reenacting scenes from favorite books—sometimes turning the backyard into the prairie of Little House or imagining the kitchens and tables of the stories she loved. At ten years old, she decided she wanted to become a writer and has been revisiting, reimagining, and retelling stories ever since.
Her debut novel, Love Finds You in Hershey, Pennsylvania, launched her publishing career, and she has since written several clean contemporary romances for Harlequin Heartwarming. A lifelong lover of history, Cerella is especially fascinated by the everyday details of the past—what people ate, how they cooked, and the stories shared around the table. Literary Fare grew from that curiosity and from her belief that food can open a new doorway into the worlds we read about.
Cerella lives in York, Pennsylvania with her two pugs, Oliver and Pippin, both named after beloved literary characters. A former barista who prides herself on brewing an excellent cup of coffee, she believes some of life’s best moments happen at the intersection of good food, good conversation, and a well-loved book.
